此首是柯林斯深受欧洲乐迷喜爱的畅销曲，在法国尤其畅销，高居法国2003年电台最长播放单曲榜，由于这首歌大受欢迎，法国那边无法为专辑《Testify》推出第二首单曲。这首歌背后有个非常有趣的故事。据说，柯林斯正在Zematt滑雪，滑完雪后，柯林斯到当地的健身俱乐部好好享受一番。健身启当时正在播放着一张带点乡村与美国西部曲风的CD，没多久，CD就传来里欧?塞尔（Leo Sayer）的畅销曲“Can′t Stop Loving You”，柯林斯听着、唱着、就顺着歌曲的感觉，还一边想着警察合唱团（The Police）的“De.Do.Do.Do.De.Da.Da.Da”这首歌，试着哼出一段歌词，柯林斯还因哼得有点大声而遭到蒸汽按摩室内大家的抗议。柯林斯就把这段哼回家去，后来，当柯林斯开始录制《Testify》专辑时，就在洛杉机的录音室完成了这首“Can′t Stop Loving You”，有传闻指出柯林斯就是在录这首歌时，因为歌曲中段音响开得太大声，导致他的左耳瞬间失去听觉。

2、Separate Lives(Live)
创作才子史蒂芬.毕厦普(Stephen Bishop)所写的歌，菲尔?柯林斯曾灌录过许多的版本，柯林斯最早是在录制《No Jacket Repuired》专辑时以独唱的方式灌录这首歌。后来，在《No Jacket Repuired》发行前夕，柯林斯所属的大西洋厂牌〈Atlantic Records〉希望柯林斯能跟女歌手玛丽莲?马丁（Marilyn Martin）合唱这首歌，并担任这首歌的制作，于是两人就合唱了“Separate Lives”，歌曲被选为电影《飞越苏联》的主题曲，这是柯林斯继《再看我一眼》的“Against All Odds”后，二度为导演泰勒?汉克福执导的电影演唱主题曲，歌曲在全美流行单曲榜与抒情榜上蝉联双冠军，并获得奥斯卡最佳电影主题曲的提名。而柯林斯本人最喜欢“Separate Lives”演唱版本则是他与女歌手布莉姬布莱恩(Bridget Bryant)在85年巡回演唱时所合唱的版本，柯林斯对布莱恩的美丽歌喉赞不绝口，柯林斯在《菲尔?柯林斯 有声情书》所选的版本就是两人所合唱的版本。

菲尔?柯林斯首度帮电影谱写、演唱的主题曲，电影名称叫做《再看我一眼》，这是由《军官司与绅士》导演泰勒?汉克福所执导，《奔腾年代》男主角布里吉与《荆棘鸟》女主角瑞秋?华德合演的电影的社会写实片，故事描述过气的运动员在奉命寻找富商女儿的过程中，情不自楚的爱上富商的女儿，因而卷入一段纠葛的爱恋情仇，柯林斯近乎嘶喊的情感唱腔深刻传达片中男、女主角深陷情义困境的无奈，这首歌让柯林斯首度同时获得奥斯卡，金球与格莱美奖最佳电影主题曲的提名肯定，当然也是排行榜上红不让的单曲，分别在美、英两地拿下冠、亚军。
